Description
EU Carbon Black and recovered Carbon Black pricing: This two-page PDF-file features a price chart for semi-reinforcing furnace carbon black (ASTM N772, N660 and N550), rCB1 quality recovered carbon black, rCB2 quality recovered carbon black, as well as imported furnace carbon blacks from Russia, China and India, and a data table for all prices from January 2020 up to September 2025.
2025 carbon black prices are now calculated with a new formula based on primary and secondary feedstock.
When talking about pricing, we in turn need to talk about product quality and product categories. For furnace carbon blacks, we have the ASTM classification system according to the D1765 standard. Such a classification is also in work for recovered carbon black, but it is not official yet. It is the work item WK84831 in the D36 workgroup for recovered carbon black. A new classification was put to ballot in August 2025, but it contains only two parameters, ash content and toluene transmittance, no application performance testing.
Wolfersdorff Consulting Berlin has created the very first recovered carbon black specifications in 2021, called “rCB1” (top quality, ecologic product) and “rCB2” (second quality, economic product).
