EU Carbon Black and recovered Carbon Black pricing: This two-page PDF-file features a price chart for semi-reinforcing furnace carbon black (ASTM N772, N660 and N550), rCB1 quality recovered carbon black, rCB2 quality recovered carbon black, as well as imported furnace carbon blacks from India and China, and a data table for all prices from January 2020 up to January 2026.
2025 and 2026 carbon black prices are now calculated with a new formula based on primary and secondary feedstock.
When talking about pricing, we in turn need to talk about product quality and product categories. For furnace carbon blacks, we have the ASTM classification system according to the D1765 standard. The new rCB classification ASTM D8632 has two parameters, ash content and toluene transmittance. In my consultancy practice, I am also adding an in-rubber benchmark furnace carbon black to better describe the rCB’s performance.
Wolfersdorff Consulting Berlin has created the very first recovered carbon black specifications in 2021, called “rCB1” (top quality, ecologic product, approximately ASTM D8632 R12 with N660 in-rubber performance) and “rCB2” (second quality, economic product, approximately ASTM D8632 R33 with N772 in-rubber performance).
