EU Carbon Black and recovered Carbon Black pricing: This two-page PDF-file features a price chart for semi-reinforcing furnace carbon black (ASTM N772, N660 and N550), rCB1 quality recovered carbon black (corresponding to ASTM concept R2336), rCB2 quality recovered carbon black (corresponding to ASTM concept R4337), as well as imported furnace carbon blacks from Russia, China and India, and a data table for all prices from January 2019 up to April 2024.
2024 carbon black prices are now calculated with a new formula based on primary and secondary feedstocks.
When talking about pricing, we in turn need to talk about product quality and product categories. For furnace carbon blacks, we have the ASTM classification system according to the D1765 standard. Such a classification is also in work for recovered carbon black, but it is not official yet. It is the work item WK84831 in the D36 workgroup for recovered carbon black.
Wolfersdorff Consulting Berlin has created the very first recovered carbon black specifications in 2021, called “rCB1” (top quality, ecologic product) and “rCB2” (second quality, economic product). In this pricing overview, we are pricing exactly those two grades of recovered carbon black. We cross reference both to the approximate concept names of both according the ASTM work item WK84831: “R2336” for EU rCB1 and “R4337” for EU rCB2.
